NI GPIB-USB-HS and NI GPIB-USB-HS+, what's the difference?
We are planning to buy a NI GPIB-USB adapter. We have made some tests with a borrowed GPIB-USB-HS model and it worked fine. But we have not tested it with the "+" version (GPIB-USB-HS+). NI recommends the "+" model for new designs, but we want to make sure it will work with our device. Would you suggest that we get the "+" model or not? Do you have any experience with this two models?
Re: NI GPIB-USB-HS and NI GPIB-USB-HS+, what's the differenc
We ourself currently use a NI GPIB-USB-HS convertor (without the ‘+’). The ‘+’ normally means that the GPIB-convertor also includes analyzer functionality that is an advanced monitoring mode, for hardware level debugging of the GPIB bus. There should be no other difference. We also have used NI GPIB+ variants in the past, and they just work as the non-analyzer variants of the GPIB cards.
I expect that both the NI GPIB-USB-HS+ and the NI GPIB-USB-HS are working the same. On the NI website I saw that they indeed advice to buy the NI GPIB-USB-HS+ variant. In our country it is even cheaper than the NI GPIB-USB-HS. Also the NI GPIB-USB-HS+ variant seems to support USB 2.0, which is not supported on the NI GPIB-USB-HS.
It is up to you to decide what you will buy. Both models will be working correctly in combination with RadiMation, and we do support both models. I can imagine that price will be the main criteria to decide which model to buy.
