How can I check my GPIB device
How is it possible for me to see how the computer communicates with other GPIB devices?
Re: How can I check my GPIB device
It is possible to check this with the Measurement & Automation Explorer software of National Instruments. Under the tab 'Devices and Interfaces' you can see your GPIB device which is currently installed on your computer. In this example the model is a PCI GPIB card with the ID GPIB0.
Additionally it is possible to to check for a GPIB device with the default device manager of Windows. (Shortcut: WINDOWS+R and type in the run box devmgmt.msc) However, this does not provide the same details.
Hopefully this answered your question.

Thanks for the quick response, I can now check if my card is correctly recognized by my computer.

It is also possible to view your instruments connected to the GPIB device.
In addition you can obtain more details of the specific instruments, like the used GPIB Address (or PAD).
This can specifically be useful at the time of setting up a new device driver.
