PC migration

Post by TheDoctor »

Good morning,

After some years working, our PC with Radimation version 5.6.9 installed is giving some problems.

This is the reason why I'm writting here. Please, could you help me in a new installation process on a new PC based on Windows XP but restoring all the settings, test templates, etc? The old PC is still working so I can copy folders and files without problems.

The proceess is so easy as install new software and do a Copy/paste of system folders?? (probably not :( )

Thanls in advance for your help

It is possible to install the newest version (currently 5.8.38) of RadiMation® on your new Computer with use of your old configuration. You will need to make a complete backup of the .*_FILE directory's and the Printout and CONFDVDR directory's.
All these folders are probably by default installed into "C:\Program Files\DARE Development\RadiMation\", we call this the 'Installation directory' from now on.

If the 'Installation directory' is unchanged, these folders and files in this fresh 'Installation directory' can easily be replaced with your backup files/folders. It could be that between these versions (5.6.9 and 5.8.38) the standard 'Installation directory' during the installation procedure has changed. Due to the fact that the locations to corresponding .CAL and .COR are saved into the .TSF's files itself, these .CAL and .COR files can't be found anymore. To make sure this will not happen remember the exact path of your old 'Installation directory'. After finishing the installation of the new RadiMation version, those directory locations have to be exactly the same.

Please follow these steps:

1. Backup your old configuration, files and folders and also save the 'Installation directory' and other used locations/paths.
2. Download the latest version of RadiMation® (http://data.dare.nl/wiki/index.php/Download_5.8).
3. Install RadiMation®.
4. Start RadiMation®, go to the menu Configuration -> Directories.
5. Compare these directory locations with your old locations.
6. If these locations are the same compared to your old configuration: close RadiMation® and browse to this location and replace all those files/folders with your backup, go further with step 13
7. If these locations are different compared to your old configuration: first create the complete old main 'Installation directory' locations (mind the use of uppercase).
8. Copy your backup files/folders into this newly created 'Installation directory'.
9. With RadiMation® still open, go to the menu Configuration -> Directories and change the location of the 'Device Driver Configuration Files' to the 'CONFDVDR' location you created in step 8.
10. Restart RadiMation®.
11. Repeat step 9 for all file types.
12. Close RadiMation®.
13. Download and install the latest Device Drivers for RadiMation® (http://data.dare.nl/wiki/index.php/Device_drivers).
14. You have now succesfully installed a complete new version of RadiMation® in combination with your old configuration.
