Prevent FWD power from exeeding the 1dB compression point

Post by solutionseeker »

Is it possible stopping e.g. an immunity measurement (61000-4-3; 4-6) automatically when the forward output power is above the 1 dB compression line? How can I prevent this?(is this the check box “Amplifier Protection”.

The amplifier protection will limit the power on the amplifier input and/or the forward power and/or on the reflected power based on the values being measured.
This means that if no forward power meter is present during the test, no forward power protection of the amplifier can be performed. The same is true for the reflected power meter.
The amplifier input is the power generated by the signal generator, which is always needed to perform this kind of tests.
When no amplifier protection file is attached for the ‘maximum input’ the default value of 0dBm will be used. This means that when a higher signal generator level is desired this will be limited by the software and a warning will be shown in the event log of the test.

However, to answer your question in short: no, the measurement cannot be automatically stopped. However, when you know the maximum forward power level which is allowed to stay below the 1dB compression point, you can use these values as forward power limitation (attach this to your amplifier as Maximum Forward power file).

Hopefully this fully clarifies your question.
