How to use R&S UPV performing Audio Breakthrough measurement

Post by solutionseeker »

Can you explain to me how I can use a R&S UPV performing Audio Breakthrough measurement during Immunity testing?

Please use the following directions to configure the R&S UPV in combination with RadiMation to be able to use the measurement results of the R&S UPV during immunity tests in RadiMation.

At first, please read the manual of the R&S UPV, which is available at: https://cdn.rohde-schwarz.com/pws/dl_do ... _en_13.pdf
More specifically, at least read the chapters:
- Chapter 5.1: Selecting the Generator
- Chapter 5.2: Configuring Analog Generator
- Chapter 5.6.1: Generator Signals: Sine
- Chapter 5.26: Signal-to-Noise Measurements
- Chapter 5.52: Numeric display
- Chapter 7.5.4: Reading measurement Results

The general idea is to configure the R&S UPV to perform the desired measurement, as if the measurements should be performed ‘by hand’, without any RadiMation software. When this measurement is configured, we can use the ‘Configurable AD-Convertor’ device driver from RadiMation to read the desired measurement value from the R&S UPV.

More specifically for the measurements that you describe:
1) Configure a generator to generate a 1 kHz sinewave (chapter 5.1, 5.2 and 5.6.1)
2) Select the Signal-to-Noise measurement (chapter 5.26)
3) Configure the Signal-to-Noise measurement as desired, probably you want to select a 1 kHz bandpass filter (Chapter 5.62)
4) Deactivate the S/N sequence which only performs the ‘Noise’ measurement after the initial ‘Signal’ measurement (chapter 5.26.2)
5) Configure the numeric display to show the desired value (Chapter 5.52)
6) Determine the correct SCPI command to retrieve the value (Chapter 7.5.4). This probably will be: SENS1:DATA1? but it can be another command, depending on the location of the desired measurement value as it is shown in the ‘Numeric display’ on the R&S UPV.

7) In RadiMation configure the ‘Configurable AD Convertor’ device driver.
8) In the ‘Advanced’ settings of the ‘Configurable AD Convertor’ device driver, specify the determined SCPI command as the ‘Trigger’ for ‘Channel 1’. The ‘Read Back’ should be an interpretation of the floating point number that is returned by the R&S UPV, and can be: ([+-]?[0-9]*\.?[0-9]+) Also be sure to specify a ‘0’ for the ‘Minimum Value’ and ‘1’ for the ‘Maximum Value’.

9) When the ‘Configurable AD Convertor’ device driver is created, that device driver can be selected in the EUT file as an ‘EUT Monitoring’ input.

The above settings and configuration, will achieve that when an Immunity test is started in RadiMation: at every tested frequency, the measurement value from the R&S UPV is retrieved as it is shown in the ‘Numeric Display’ of the R&S UPV.

I hope that this clarifies how you can combine the R&S UPV in RadiMation.
